Garden View Sauna

Garden View begins with the window and works backwards. A wide, insulated picture unit sits at seated eye level, the bench curves gently to follow it, and the warm spruce interior is lit from a concealed cove above so nothing competes with the view outside. It is specified most often on the ground floor of a house with a mature garden or a courtyard planting — a sauna that gives you somewhere to look as well as somewhere to sit.

You sit down and the garden fills the frame. In winter, watching snow while sitting at eighty degrees is the whole argument for owning one.

Fifteen to twenty minutes of heat, three or four evenings a week, ideally followed by cold and then by stillness. Most owners find the routine settles into the hour before sleep.
